This 1920s dress is a wonderful synthesis of ethereal innocence and seduction. At its most basic, the dress is sort-of princess seamed in 8 panels, 4 in front and 4 in back. There is a drop waist with three rows of shirring below to add some fullness to the skirt. But the seaming between panels opens up with triangular lace insets top and bottom - at the neckline, the triangles are fairly small. The skirt insets begin at the level of the natural waist, so they are quite long, and become the whole skirt a few inches above the knees.
It would have originally been worn with a simple slip - probably white - underneath. It did not come to me with a slip - I have shown it in one photo with a white slip from  my closet. The slip is not included with purchase.

SIZE: No size label. When considering the measurements, keep in mind that you have to slip this on over your head - there are no openings.

 Measurements Inches Cm
Bust 37" 94
Waist 34" 86.25
Hips 37" 94
Dress length from shoulder seam 40" 101.5
Sweep 100" 254

FABRIC/COLORS: The color is cream, done in lace and a light weight crepe - I believe it is silk, but there is nowhere safe to snip fabric for a fiber burn test.

TAGS: No tags.

CLOSURES: N/A, this slips on without any fasteners.

CONDITION: A few small flaws to report - there are small water rings under the arms - see closeup. No odor, and the fabric does not feel compromised. I found a smallish subtle greenish area on the upper back - see other closeup. No other issues noted, remarkably. Lace and fabric seem strong and intact.

I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.

For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.

For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.

Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.

The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.

If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
