Red Dressing Gown 30s Vintage Robe M/L As-is Marianne Frocks VFG
This is a 1930s vintage lounging robe - cute and comfortable, a perfect antidote to clingy lacy frilly negligees. It is princess seamed, with puff shoulders that are open on the bottom of the sleeve, I love the oversize pointed collar and the two tiny bound pockets on the upper chest.
SIZE: No size label
| Measurements | Inches | Cm |
| Shoulders | 14.25" | 36.25 |
| Bust | 40" | 101.5 |
| Waist | 36" | 91.5 |
| Hips | 47" | 119.5 |
| Length from shoulder seam | 53" | 134.5 |
| Sweep | 84" | 213 |
FABRIC/COLORS: Tomato red faille, medium weight and a little crisp to touch. There are no open seams to get a snip of fabric for a fiber burn test - I would guess a rayon/acetate blend.
TAGS: Marianne Frocks
CLOSURES: The robe opens completely down the front - eight big self-fabric buttons with dimples centers, vertical buttonholes.
CONDITION: Very wearable with a few small flaws. There are a few scattered small stains - mostly on the lower back skirt - see closeup. I found an area of minor seam stress at the mid/upper back on the wearer's right- see closeup. Two of the buttons hae small areas of fray at the margins - see closeup of most significant, one button is a bit faded compared to the others.
I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.
For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.
For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.
Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.
The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.
If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
