This lovely little dress is 1980s vintage, girly without going over the top with ruffles and bows. It was made by a company that specialized in children's clothing, so it was originally designed for a preteen. It's a classic shirtwaist style, except straight cut bodice. It has short sleeves, a peter pan collar, and a tie belt that is attached in back. It also has pockets in the skirt with flaps and button accent.

SIZE: Labeled size 14 - that would be preteen 14, not Misses 14. For reference, my spokesmodel was wearing a size 6 at the time of these photos.

 Measurements Inches Cm
Shoulders 13" 33
Waist 26" 83.75
Hips 55" 139.75
Bodice length from shoulder seam 13.5" 34.25
Skirt length 23" 58.5
Sweep 68" 172

FABRIC/COLORS: A charming and feminine floral print. using soft pastels against a white background. The fabric is lightweight and finely woven, similar to batiste. Most likely cotton, but nowhere to snip a fragment for a fiber burn test. Pocket flaps and collar are edged in pale pink cording.

TAGS: Petite Gamine, San Francisco. There is also a tag for I. Magnin Jellybeans & Rainbows. Petite Gamin was incorporated in 1979, and dissolved some time between 1987 and 1990. Jellybeans & Rainbows debuted within I Magnin in 1980.

CLOSURES: Five dainty plastic buttons in a soft shade of pink open down the front.

CONDITION: I have repaired a few small sections of open seaming at the waist. No other issues noted - no stains, holes, or tears.

I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.

For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.

For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.

Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.

The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.

If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
