Women's Bernhard Altmann Sweater 50s Cashmere Mink Collar Vintage Cropped M/L VFG
This vintage 1950s cashmere cardigan sweater is a classic of its time, and extra nice because it's an Altmann! Fits close to the body with fully fashioned 3/4 length sleeves and deep vee neck. The luxurious mink collar frames the plunge to the cropped waist. Delicate tone-on-tone floral appliques accent the lower part of the sweater, front and back. The satin buttons at the waist closure are repeated at the notched center back and side seams and echoed at the gently pleated cuffs.
SIZE: No size label. Fits like a medium/large. Measurements taken laying flat and unstretched.

FABRIC/COLORS: Labeled 100% cashmere, in a warm creamy beige. Body is lined in two layers, one of lace and the other chiffon. The detachable collar is mink, in a soft shade of honey. The collar is backed with beige satin.
TAGS: Bernhard Altmann
CLOSURES: The sweater has two pairs of small satin covered buttons at the waist, but it actually fastens with three hidden hooks & eyes. The mink collar attaches with 29 small snaps.
CONDITION: A former owner did an excellent job of repairing a tiny hole on the left shoulder - see closeup. There are two faint tannish stains on the upper left back near the shoulder - see other closeup. I hand washed the sweater using Orvus paste but did not try aggressive stain removal techniques. No other issues noted.
I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.
For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.
For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.
Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.
The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.
If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
