This is such a striking set, wearable as separates or together for maximum impact. I see Native American influence in the design, possibly Navajo, or perhaps Seminole. I am also reminded of the "Patio Dresses" that were very popular in the 1950s and 1960s, particularly in the American southwest. The top is sleeveless, with a wide neckline ruffle that adds a small "cap" at the shoulders. The skirt has an inset waistband and three gathered tiers. There is extensive piecing of colorful fabric, along with rickrack trim in the same colors.

SIZE: The blouse is labeled M, and the skirt S

 Measurements Inches Cm
Blouse: Bust 38" 96.5
Blouse: Bottom hem circumference 40" 102
Blouse: Length 20" 51
Skirt: Waist 28.5" 72.5
Skirt: Hips Free Free
Skirt: Sweep 116" 296
Skirt: Length 30.5" 71.5

FABRIC/COLORS: Primary color is light gray - fabric is lightweight. The gray of the blouse is slightly darker than the gray of the skirt - see closeup with my thumb on the right and finger on the left with blouse fabric on the upper right and skirt fabric lower left. The colorful piecing is done in strong shades of red, purple and dark green. Labeled 100% cotton, and dry clean only.

TAGS: Origins, Santa Fe, made in India

CLOSURES: The skirt closes with a pair of small red buttons and a short nylon zipper. The blouse slips on over the head.

CONDITION: A few minor issues. I found a couple of small yellowish spots in the tiers of the voluminous skirt - see closeup with pens pointing. There is a small hole from frayed seam at top of bottom tier, an easy repair - see closeup. Sometimes I think I see subtle color bleed of the red onto the gray fabric - see last closeup for my best effort at showing it.

I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.

For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.

For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.

Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.

The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.

If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
