70s Maxi Dress Angel Sleeves Floral Print Festival Vintage Garden Party Milson California VFG S/XS Ruffled

$ 99.00 Sale Save

This 70s maxidress has a romantic Bohemian air, in the best tradition of Gunne Sax. The vee-neck bodice wraps in front. It looks high waisted due to the 3" wide section set in to the bodice front above the waist - it anchors the sashes that tie around the back. The long skirt has six gores, a wide one that gathers into the waist and the other narrower, setting into the waist smoothly. The angel wing sleeves gather at the shoulders and fall beautifully, ending with a deep self-fabric ruffle.

SIZE: Labeled size 7. The jersey knit used for the dress allows some give and stretch. My spokesmodel typically wears a modern 4 to 6.

FABRIC/COLORS: The background color is a combination of putty/tan with vaguely vining swirls of cream hashed with brown. Atop are scattered little bouquets of flowers in soft shades of salmon pink, sage green and brown. The dress uses two different fabrics in the same print and colorway. The body of the dress is opaque jersey knit, and the sleeves are semisheer gauze. The tag identifies fibers as an acetate/nylon blend, and recommends machine wash warm.

TAGS: No maker's tag, but RN #38961 corresponds to Milson. Tag does say Made in California.

CLOSURES: A long nylon zipper down the back, plus a wide self-fabric sash inset into the side seams to tie in back.

CONDITION: I have repaired a few small open seam areas. The underarm areas of the sleeve fabric are lightly discolored if you look closely at the cream areas of the print. No other issues noted.

I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.

For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.

For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.

Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.

The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.

If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
