60s Mod Mini Dress Bold Plaid Trapeze As Is Small VFG
Flawed but very wearable, and oh so cute! This 1960s Mod minidress is styled with a trapeze silhouette. The sleeveless bodice has a rounded neckline and short square yoke with a self fabric flat bow at the center of the base. The skirt flares from there, and includes a deep inverted pleat that suggests this could work as a maternity dress.
SIZE: Labeled size 8

FABRIC/COLORS: Oversized diagonal plaid in bold shades of fuschia pink and goldenrod yellow, as well as turquoise, moss green, and darker blue, all edged in spiky black. The weave is a bit coarse, like a cross between homespun and boucle. It is bonded to a blue/puprle jersey inside. Tag identifies primary fabric as 100% wool, and inner bonding as acetate.
TAGS: No maker's tag, but there is a union tag for the ILGWU, the one that was used from 1963 to 1974. That tag also includes the RN # - 26026 - which shows up in the FTC database as L.S.P. Ltd in Aurora Illinois.
CLOSURES: The upper bodice closes with three self fabric buttons in back plus a snap at the neck. The lower dress has a metal zipper just below.
CONDITION: there are areas of fading, mostly in a few pink sections. The most noticeable is along right rear shoulder - see closeup - but also near left sideseam of skirt and under left arm. No other issues noted - no stains, holes or odors. And no devil dust!
I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.
For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.
For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.
Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.
The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.
If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
