60s One Piece Pin Up Swimsuit Women's Vintage 70s Floral XL Perfection Fit by Roxanne VFG
This mid-to-late 1960s swimsuit is an impressive feat of construction in terms of support for a larger fuller figured woman. But it is also so well designed, creating a flattering pinup vibe! The bra cups are set into a fully elasticized control front which is overlaid by the stretchy floral outer layer that wraps across the bust and softens the tummy area with stitched down pleating on the left. Elasticized legs are attached to the control top in front. The back of the suit is the floral fabric only, with a deep scoop back and hugging your curves in the best possible way. The narrow shoulder straps are adjustable using two blue plastic shank buttons.
SIZE: Labeled 18/40, Cup D. Bust/waist/hips measurements taken on a woman who wears a modern size 12 - she reported that the waist and hips had room to stretch more - the bust too presumably, but that expansion would happen outside of the suit's low back since the bra cups are fixed.
Measurements | Inches | Cm |
Bust | 41" | 104 |
Waist | 35" | 89 |
Hips | 41" | 104 |
Length from shoulder to bottom with both buttons used | 27.5" | 68.5 |
Shorts leg opening circumference at rest/stretched | 22/26" | 56/66 |
FABRIC/COLORS: A stretchy jersey-style knit featuring a floral print in bright shades of pink, turquoise, purple and green against a white background. Fabric content label says 87% nylon, 13% Lycra/Spandex. The bra cups are constructed using a very sturdy mesh-type material, and there are two different kinds of woven elastic material lining the rest of the suit front - the type you might see in a foundation garment of that era.
TAGS: Perfection Fit by Roxanne, Made in USA. The ILGWU union label is from before the merger with AFL-CIO.
CLOSURES: N/A, the suit pulls up and on.
CONDITION: No stains, holes, loss of elasticity or other issues noted.
I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.
For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.
For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.
Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.
The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.
If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
