30s Vintage Women's Fedora Hat Slouch Dark Blue Stitched Low Crown
A low crown women's fedora style hat that dates to the 1930s. The crown is shaped by two asymmetrical "slashes" that are stitched together in a lighter neutral shade of thread. The longer slash is further shaped with inside stitching to create a deeper pinch. The outer hatband is grosgrain ribbon with a folded treatment on the wearer's right.
SIZE: Labeled size 22
|Inner band circumference||21"||53.25|
|Brim circumference: Front / Back
||2.75" / 2.2"||7 / 5.25|
|Height of crown with hat sitting on flat surface||3.5"||9|
MATERIALS/COLORS: Dark blue felt, probably wool, and thinner/lighter than other hats I have handled from this era.
TAGS: No maker's tag
CONDITION: There are faint old makeup stains on the front half of the inner ribbon band - see closeup. There is subtle fading to the outer band, with a bit of fray at the slanted edges - see closeup. The way the ribbon is folded there suggests to me that the hat may have had a small feather trim in that spot, which a new owner may want to add back.
