This is a 1920s turban style cloche hat - very chic! The structured cloche shape is designed to sit low on the head. It features two toned silky fabric that wraps and drapes, set off by a rhinestone accented buckle shape in front.

SIZE:  No size label. I would estimate this as a large - the inner circumference translates to somewhere between 7 1/8 and 7 1/4.

 Measurements Inches Cm
Inner edge circumference 22.5" 57.2
Height of crown sitting on flat surface 5.5" 14

MATERIALS/COLORS: There is a semi-stiff inner layer to give the hat shape. The outer layer fabric is silky, with a matte satin surface. The "buckle" ornament appears to be pot metal. The hat is fully lined in thin slightly crisp black fabric.

TAGS: Original Hershs Millinery, 832 Market St., San Francisco Calif., 1124 Washington St., Oakland Calif.

CONDITION: Very good to excellent. The stiff inner layer is not perfectly smooth, so the upper outer hat has some visual irregularity. There are a few very small scuffs to the fabric of the dome - see closeup for an example. The rhinestones have all darkened and two of them have disappeared. No other issues noted.

I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.

For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.

For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.

Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.

The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.

If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
