$ 249.00 Sale Save

A delicate and ethereal vintage 1920s dress with wonderful details, suitable for a wedding dress or other very special occasion! Classic 20s silhouette, straight cut with dropped waist, softened by the delicate lace yoke and vertical pleated panel in front framed by more lace on each side. Three tiny rhinestone center buttons are positioned between the breasts. A softly pleated self fabric belt at the sides and back gives way to narrow ribbon steamers in front, each tied in multiple tiny bows along its length. A large silk chrysanthemum type flower on the left hip provides a lovely accent. Bell sleeves have a deep pleated cuff "ruffle on the inner layer overlaid with a petal effect with the chiffon - exquisite!

FABRIC/COLORS: Outer layer is lighter than air sheer chiffon. Inner layer of feather weight semisheer crepe - nowhere to snip some fabric for a burn test, but I believe it's silk. Color is old ivory. The silk flower is closer to white and the ribbon trims are shell pink and ivory.

CLOSURES: The dress has an unusual closure for the era - a long placket down the back that closes with 4 sets of snaps and a hook & eye at the waistband level.

CONDITION: Underarm watermarks, very slightly discolored, no odor - it's rather subtle and wearable as-is, but if you have an excellent & trustworthy cleaner, they may be able to remove it. I have hand stitched a 1" section of open seam on the inner layer of the right cuff and a 1/2" tear to the front hem of the inner dress layer. Also, two of the three tiny buttons are missing their rhinestones.

I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.

For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.

For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.

Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.

The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.

If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
