Vintage Fur Pelt Stole Wrap Shawl Brown Marten or Mink 3 Pelts VFG

$ 45.00 Sale Save

Just the thing to wear with an elegant 30s or 40s vintage outfit! Fur pelt stoles were all the rage. This one has three complete pelts, along with two extra tails - two of the heads converge into a sort-of triangle shape, with the bonus tails under their jaws as if they are biting them. I have shown the stole in a couple of different wearing styles for inspiration on Josephine.

FUR/OTHER MATERIALS: I think this is probably marten fur, although it could be mink. The guard hairs are glossy and range in color from medium to dark brown on both sides of the pelts, while the heads are lighter brown and tails are dark. Throats are not white. Instead of glass eyes, these pelts have dark brown velvet eyes. The place where two heads meet has a triangle of dark brown satin fabric underneath.

SIZE:
Each pelt measures 30" from tip of nose to tip of tail, and up to 3.5" wide.
The entire stole measures 56" long.

CLOSURES: This stole has a large fabric covered hook on the rear foot of one pelt and a corresponding large eye on the rear foot of one of the pelts at the other end.

TAG: Colburn's

CONDITION: Part of the satin fabric triangle needs to be tacked down again - see closeup. The pelts seem to have all their paws, but no claws - I think this was a decision made by the furrier at the time the stole was created. No issues noted - fur is not shedding, no tears seen, skins feel soft and supple.

I measure the outside of garments, unless stated otherwise.

For menswear, the chest is measured at armpit level.

For womenswear, the bust is measured a little below armpit level, including the room created by darts or gathers.

Waist will be measured if there is one, and hips are measured about 9" below waist level. Sleeves are measured from shoulder seam or an approximation in the absence of a shoulder seam. Garment length is measured from the back of the neck, unless otherwise stated.

The measurement numbers refer to the garment, not the body inside. For best fit, measure a similar type of garment which fits you well and compare.

If the garment is shown on Josephine, my mannequin, her measurements are 31/24.5/34". Sometimes she wears a padded bra. My live models measurements vary depending on the day and year, and I don't ask them to share that.
