70s Vintage Classic Panama Hat M/L Men's Women's Straw Fedora Unisex VFG
- Description
This Panama hat is a summer classic, light weight, breezy, and shaped similarly to a fedora. I purchased this hat myself in Mexico in 1975 as a young backpacker - even then, I was drawn to the highest quality I could afford! The crown has a pinched front and rounded back, aka teardrop or water drop crown. Brim is a bit wider along the sides than in the front and back. Grading systems for Panama hats generally use WPI (weave per inch) as a measure of quality - the higher the number, the finer the straw and the more hours spent by the weaver. Some grading systems multiply the vertical by the horizontal to arrive at a final grade. The WPI for this hat is 13-15, which seems to qualify as a fino or super fino in the more subjective grading systems that apply a named result.
