70s Vintage Day Dress Floral Rayon Swingy 40s Inspired Women's Small VFG
- Description
This 1970s vintage day dress is clearly 40s inspired, but streamlined to a few charming details, and elevated by the fabric and print. The bodice has a small peter pan collar, and pintucking from shoulder seam to the bust in front. Short sleeves are gently puffed with notched cuffs. There are narrow fabric self ties attached under the collar front that can be tied in the center if you like, or cut loose if you prefer. Waist is elasticized, and the skirt is swingy - amazingly, the skirt is sewn with just one seam, right down the front center.
SIZE: Size label is unreadable. Dress was not pinned on my spokesmodel, who currently wears a modern size 6-8. Waist measurement is given unstretched-stretched.

FABRIC/COLORS: I love this fabric and print! It's rayon crepe with a winding curving print of dainty flowers and vines, using jewel tones of teal, purple, rust, and maroon with a little cream against a dark blue background. Label says Dry Clean Only, and I believe them, since crepes sometimes shrink and twist in the washing machine.
TAGS: No makers tag, but there is one of the ILGWU tags used at the time.
CLOSURES: The bodice closes with six tiny flower-shaped shank buttons that are shiny enough to be glass - but they're actually plastic.
CONDITION: The top collar button is missing. No stains, holes, tears or other issues noted.
