Women's Vintage 40s Hat Wide Broad Brim Asymmetrical Dramatic Brown Felt VFG Slouch Crown
- Description
The 40s was a fabulous era for hats, and this is exhibit A! Low slouched crown, with a wide brim that is reinforced at the outer edge so it keeps its shape. The brim is shaped like a teardrop so that the left side can be folded up like an Australian bush hat. It is shown in some photos fastened with a jeweled brooch shown for inspiration but not included – you can use the decorative pin or button of your choice from your own collection. A corded elastic band is attached at both sides, intended to go under your hair in back and keep the hat in place.

FABRIC/COLORS: Dark brown felt.
TAG: No maker’s tag, only a union tag.
CONDITION: The inner grosgrain band is lightened in front from the foundation makeup worn by former owners on their forehead. There is a bit of roughness to the felt surface at the back of the crown – I think the hat may have had a band originally that was stitched down there – subtle unless you look, so not a significant issue.
