Vintage 20s 30s Neck Tie Ombre Diagonal Stripes Blue Brown Resilient Construction VFG
- Description
This is an early necktie - based on presence of a patent #, plus the unlined topstitched construction, I am thinking 1920s or 1930s vintage. And it is very nice! The diagonal striping is done in a satin weave with shades of dark blue and brown fading to cream. In between, the wider dark blue stripes are a matte weave with a subtle nubby surface. Label says fabric is rayon.
Measurements | Inches | Centimeters |
Widest point | 3.5" | 9 |
Length | 50" | 127 |
TAGS: No maker's tag, but says "Resilient Construction, Pat. No. 1,447,090. This is the original patent number given to Jesse Langsdorf, the inventor of the modern necktie.
CONDITION: I have repaired areas of opening seam along the length of the necktie's back side. There is a tiny area along one of the brown stripes that looks like a linear stain - see closeup. I believe it is actually a bit of surface wear exposing the darker color beneath.
