Women's 40s Jacket Red Velvet Dress Coat Vintage Embellished Medium VFG

$ 124.00 Sale Save

A beautiful vintage 1940s jacket for that special occasion, but I can also see it looking fabulous with jeans and a sleek knit top! Epaulet style sleeves with shirring in front - the shoulders are embellished with self fabric cording curved and zig zagged in a decorative design, a fascinating approach to the 40s padded shoulder look without using pads.

FABRIC/COLORS: Cardinal red velvet - feels like rayon. Lining is white faille, and there's an inner layer of soft white flannel for insulation.

TAGS: No tags at all

CLOSURES: Two heavy hooks & eyes at the neck. Overlaid is a knotted self fabric cord that loops around an amazing button - huge faux pearl partially encased in a metal filigree base.

CONDITION: I find a small 1/4" slit in the velvet of the upper inner left sleeve - see close-up. There is some subtle discoloration/storage dust along the tops of the shoulders that should come out with dry cleaning - I don't have a cleaner I trust, so am leaving that to the new owner. It can certainly be worn as-is without embarrassment. Also, a former owner machine stitched a label inside the neck of the jacket - I have removed it, but there are some stitch marks visible in the nap on the outside - see other close-up.
